The beads are threaded on the ball, then when the picot place is reached, you pull up 11 beads and make a "picot" ov them not as tight as possible, 2 ds and then pick up the picot between bead no's 4 and 7 carry on and this makes the double loop of beads, The thread is Altin Basak in orange variagated.
I discovered tatting about 4 years ago, I learnt shuttle tatting left-handed while I had my left hand in plaster. Then needed my right thumb operated on so had to learn right-handed, it was either that or stop! I now have a monthly class called the Seaside Shuttles, all doing well.
